  • FX ARTIST

    Oblique FX is looking for a FX artist for an immediate position.

    Responsibilities:
    • Create realistic simulations (smoke, water, fire, dust, etc) while respecting the technical and esthetic standards of the project;
    • Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;
    • Report any potential technical problems to the supervisors that might disrupt the completion of work;
    • Take initiative, be flexible and make creative input when required;
    • Manage the workload to meet tight deadlines and the Oblique’s high quality standards;
    • Ability to follow directions given by the VFX Supervisor;
    • Have a strong artistic sense and be detail-oriented;
    • Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and know how to prioritize;
    • Be a good team worker;
    • Be passionate.

    Qualifications:
    • Deep knowledge of Houdini;
    • Knowledge of XSI, ICE or Fume FX a bonu;
    • Master the rules of physics relative to the required visual effects;
    • Capacity to create precomps and good understanding of the compositing process;
    • Working experience as a FX artist in a previous visual effects company preferred.

  • UI CONCEPT ARTIST

    Oblique FX is looking for a UI Concept Artist for an immediate shot-term contract.

     

    We are looking for a creative mind to create concepts and prototypes for the visualization of artificial intelligence. What does artificial intelligence look like as it is calculating information, as it is learning? We are looking for someone who has a passion for futuristic and sci-fi user interface design.

     

    Responsibilities:
    • Create concepts for an artificial intelligence UI system.
    • Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;

    • Report any potential technical problems to the supervisors that might disrupt the completion of work;

    • Take initiative, be flexible and make creative input when required;
    • Manage the workload to meet tight deadlines and the Oblique’s high quality standards;

    • Ability to follow directions given by the VFX Supervisor;

    • Be a good team worker;

    • Be passionate.


    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 2-3 years experience

    • A strong understanding of UI interaction and motion design.

    • A design portfolio that demonstrates previous UI and motion design projects
    • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects. Experience in Nuke is a plus.

    • Strong focus on visual design.

    • Must have a valid work permit.

  • 3D MOTION DESIGNER

    Oblique FX is looking for a 3D Motion Designer for an immediate position.

    Responsibilities:


    • Produce high quality animated motion graphics with the incorporation of camera paths and 3D elements

    • Knowledge of particle systems a plus;

    • Create mood boards during the early stages of your projects and participate in brainstorming sessions while contributing creative ideas;

    • Be able to propose different ideas based on the various project types, whether it be a photoreal project or an conceptual project;

    • Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;

    • Report any potential technical problems to the supervisors that might disrupt the completion of work;

    • Take initiative, be flexible and make creative input when required;

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to create animated motion graphics using Maya, Houdini or After Effects is highly preferred. Usage of Cinema4D can be accomodated;
    • Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus;
    • The ability to see a animation design project through from conception to completion
    • Traditional drawing and design skills are an asset
    • Working experience in a previous visual effects company preferred.

  • ANIMATOR

    Oblique FX is looking for an Animator for an immediate position.

    Responsibilities:


    - Start from a storyboard/animatic to create key-framed animation in Maya or Houdini;

    - Demonstrate a strong knowledge of posing, weight, performance, timing and lip sync;

    - Maintain shot-to-shot continuity in your work;

    - Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;

  • RIGGING ARTIST

    Oblique FX is looking for a Rigging Artist for an immediate position.

    Responsibilities:


    - The artist must be able to create 3D rigs for different types of objects, animals and characters in Maya (knowledge of Houdini is a plus);
    - Create rigs for 3D vehicles and props for film production
    - Develop simulation setups for characters; including cloth
    - Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;
    - Report any potential technical problems to the supervisors that might disrupt the completion of work;

  • LIGHTING ARTIST

    Oblique FX is looking for a Lighting Artist for an immediate position.

    Responsibilities:

    - Create, conceptualize or adapt photorealistic assets lighting while respecting the technical and esthetic standards of the project;

    - Work on designs of scenes and environments.
    - Get involved in the creation of the projects concepts and style.
    - Show an artistic sensitivity in shading and texture.
    - Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;

  • SENIOR NUKE COMPOSITOR

    Oblique FX is looking for a Senior Nuke Compositor for an immediate position.

    Description
    The senior Nuke Compositor is responsible for the compositing of digital and live elements, creating realistic and high quality shots. The person will have to collaborate with VFX supervisors and other VFX artists, as well as liaise with production staff in regards to assignments and deadlines, delivering high quality and coherent work throughout. Excellent artistic eye and technical skills required, attention to detail is a must.


    Responsibilities
    • Composite multiple types of shots, simple or difficult, using digital and live elements;
    • Collaborate with the visual effects supervisors and the team of artists to produce high quality work;
    • Report any potential technical problems to the supervisors that might disrupt the completion of work;
    • Take initiative, be flexible and make creative input when required;
    • Manage the workload to meet tight deadlines and the Oblique’s high quality standards;
    • Ability to follow directions given by the VFX Supervisor;
    • Have a strong eye for detail, composition, color and lighting;
    • Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and know how to prioritize;
    • Be a good team worker and good communicator;
    • Be passionate.

    Qualifications
    • Excellent knowledge of Nuke software;
    • Knowledge of 3D techniques and pipeline;
    • Proficiency in French an asset;
    • Minimum 5 year experience as a compositor in a previous visual effects company preferred.

  • VFX PROJECT MANAGER

    Oblique FX is looking for a Visual Effects Project Manager effective immediately.

    Responsibilities
    • Act as a central point of contact between the client and the VFX team, as well as between the departments within the company.
    • In collaboration with the VFX Supervisor and the General Manager, establish a production plan and schedule, while liaise with all shows to ensure prioritization of resources.
    • Assign work to artists, track progress of the project using Shotgun, and ensure work is on schedule and on budget and that it is meeting with the clients' requests.
    • Occasionally, establish a preliminary shot breakdown of a project and prepare a budget with the VFX Supervisor.
    • Work closely with the editing facility and, in a timely matter, dissect every version of offline edit and plate, to address any change that might affect the budget or the artists' work. Usually work as a VFX Editor to ensure proper in-house tracking.
    • Coordinate and execute all deliveries: incoming (plates, offline edits, references) and outgoing (approval files, final sequences).
    • Responsible for setting up dailies and all client review sessions and ensure review notes are shared with the team and entered in Shotgun.

    Qualifications
    • College Degree or equivalent in Television and/or Cinema Production and/or Postproduction.
    • Good knowledge of a production pipeline and VFX techniques.
    • High level of organization and follow-through skills, while remaining flexible
    • Very detail-oriented and excel in tasks that require a lot of concentration
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and in English.
    • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
    • Upbeat personality and natural team worker.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Knowledge of Shotgun or Filemaker Pro a plus.
    • Efficient in an editing software such as Sony Vegas, Premiere, Final Cut or Avid.
    • Good knowledge of codecs and other technical video specification.

     

    This is a full-time job starting immediately.
